Privacy Policy

The ShowShed Limited ("ShowShed", "we", "us") is based in Hamilton, New Zealand. This policy explains how we handle your personal information. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

• General enquiries & contact forms: your name, phone, email and message.
• Selling a bike to us: your name, contact details, bank account number for payment, and the vehicle's details.
• Finance applications: the information the lender needs to assess an application — name, date of birth, address, contact details, income and employment, expenses and existing debts, next-of-kin contact, and a copy of your photo ID (driver licence or passport) and signature.
• Insurance enquiries: your name, vehicle history answers, and bank account number for premium set-up.
• Website use: anonymous visit data (pages viewed, rough region, a random browser id) — no name, no cookies used to identify you.

Why we collect it

• To respond to your enquiry and provide the service you asked for.
• To submit a finance or insurance application to our partner providers on your behalf and with your authorisation, and to help you buy, sell or finance a vehicle.
• To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations as a motor vehicle trader.
• To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where it's needed for the purpose you gave it to us:

• Finance providers (e.g. our partner lenders) when you ask us to submit a finance application. They have their own privacy policies.
• Insurance providers when you ask us to arrange cover.
• Service providers that host our systems (our database and website hosting providers), under confidentiality obligations.
• Government agencies or others where the law requires it.

We never sell your personal information.

How we store and protect it

• Application data and ID documents are held in an access-controlled database and private file storage. Access is limited to authorised ShowShed staff.
• Identity documents are stored separately with restricted, time-limited access.
• Connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
• We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we're not required to keep it. Email admin@showshed.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days.

Website analytics

We record basic, non-identifying visit statistics (page views, approximate region, referring site) to see how the site is used. This isn't linked to your name or your enquiries.

Complaints

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, contact us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner — privacy.org.nz.
